Montessori Education for Toddlers through 8th grade in Lexington KY - AMI Certified

Mission

It is the mission of Community Montessori School and Montessori Middle School of Kentucky to create an educational environment and experience that allows each child to fully develop into their unique potential. We strive to fulfill this mission through strict adherence to the Montessori method by following the Association Montessori Internationale policies, standards, and certification process.

Community Montessori School (CMS) has served the Lexington, Kentucky community since 1970. CMS is a non-sectarian school and welcomes children of every race, color, religion, ethnicity and national origin

The school maintains the highest standards of academic excellence and dedication to the individual needs of the children. The principles of Dr. Maria Montessori provide the framework for program development in all areas. The school holds the total development of the child as our foremost consideration.

CMS is approved (and certified as a non-public school) by the Kentucky Department of Education as well as the Association Montessori Internationale (AMI) and is staffed by fully trained and AMI accredited Montessori teachers. We accept students toddlers through eighth grade.

Our CMS/MMSK faculty are trained at an Association Montessori Internationale (AMI) training center where they complete intense AMI training which gives them the necessary direction to accommodate the individual needs of the child, the skills to manage a multi-level age group within the classroom environment, and the knowledge of the developmental stages and sensitive periods of growht of the students.  The Montessori materials, in combination with teacher expertise, are the essential keys to the success of the classroom.

Education should no longer be mostly imparting knowledge, but must take a new path, seeking the release of human potentials.
