AMI was founded by Dr. Maria Montessori in 1929 to preserve the standards and practices she established. AMI conducts training and certifies trainers, and certifies materials. In addition, they maintain a small archive of Dr. Montessori's articles.

North American Montessori Teachers Association

NAMTA is a teacher, administrator and parent association which conducts seminars on Montessori education around the country, and publishes the NAMTA Journal. Their website has a variety of materials to help parents better understand the Montessori method.
